Professor Eric Yirenkyi Danquah, the visionary leader behind
the West Africa Centre for Crop Improvement (WACCI) at the University of Ghana,
has earned a well-deserved spot on the prestigious 2024 list of the 100 Most
Reputable Africans.
This esteemed roster stands as a testament to the resilience
and dynamism of the African continent. Highlighting individuals from diverse
spheres such as politics, business, entertainment, and human rights advocacy,
the selection criteria emphasize impact, visibility, and unwavering integrity.
As Director of WACCI, established in 2007 under his
visionary guidance, Prof Danquah spearheads the training of a new cadre of
plant breeders dedicated to enhancing staple crops in West and Central Africa.
Among the distinguished Ghanaians joining Prof Danquah on
the 2024 list are Apostle Eric Nyamekye, Chairman of The Church of Pentecost,
and Dr George Akuffo Dampare, the Inspector General of Police.
Also featured are Dr Ladisias Prosper Agbesi, Chairman of
Kudi Financial Services Group; Pastor Mensa Otabil, Founder of the
International Central Gospel Church; and Cardinal Peter Kodwo Appiah Turkson of
the Catholic Church.
The list further recognizes the contributions of Madam
Roberta Annan, Founder of the African Fashion Foundation, and Madam Sophia
Karen Edem Ackuaku, a standout Ghanaian entrepreneur committed to maximizing
profit in various environments.
