Thuli Madonsela Recognized Among Africa's Most 100 Change

Thuli Madonsela, a prominent figure in South African law and
advocacy, has been celebrated as one of Africa's top 100 change makers in 2023.
Madonsela Served as the Public Protector of South Africa from October 19, 2009,
to October 14, 2016.
Madonsela's tenure was marked by her unwavering dedication
to justice and fairness. She likened her role to that of a makhadzi, a
traditional figure who gives voice to the people and conscience to their leaders.
During her term, Madonsela fearlessly investigated cases of
corruption, including allegations against prominent figures like Julius Malema.
Her efforts earned her widespread acclaim, including being named South African
Person of the Year by Daily Maverick in 2011 and being recognized by Time
magazine as one of the world's most influential people in 2014.
In addition to her national accolades, Madonsela's
contributions have been acknowledged internationally. In 2018, she was awarded
Germany's highest individual honor, the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic
of Germany, for her defense of democratic principles. Furthermore, she was
appointed to the United Nations' Scientific Advisory Board in 2023 by Secretary-General
António Guterres.
Madonsela's dedication to truth and integrity has earned her
numerous awards, including the Glamour Woman of Courage Award in 2014 and the
Transparency International Integrity Award in the same year. She has also
received multiple honorary doctorates from prestigious universities,
recognizing her exceptional contributions to the field of law and social
justice.
