A delegation from France has arrived in Ghana to bolster
cooperation and expand educational opportunities for Ghanaian students seeking
higher learning experiences in France. This initiative includes signing
Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) with select tertiary institutions in Ghana and
facilitating student exchanges and collaborative research endeavors.
Matthieu Bragato, Marketing Manager of Campus France,
emphasized during the opening ceremony of a Students Fair in Kumasi that the
primary goal is to cultivate robust avenues for academic and business
collaborations, particularly in fields such as engineering and humanities.
The fair attracted students and faculty members from
esteemed institutions like Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology
(KNUST), Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial
Development (AAMUSTED), and Kumasi Technical University.
Bragato highlighted France's "Welcome to France"
policy, aimed at attracting 5,000 international students annually since 2018. Students
had the opportunity to engage with the delegation, gaining insights into the
benefits of exchange programs.
Feedback from attendees, such as Agnes Amponsah, reflects a
newfound confidence in pursuing studies in France, transcending language
barriers. Many also expressed hopes of securing scholarships through these
collaborations, potentially alleviating unemployment by fostering skills
development and creating job opportunities.
