Dr. Sonlary Joseph, the Medical Superintendent of the Evangelical Church of Ghana (ECG) Hospital in Kpandai, Northern Region, has issued a heartfelt appeal to the government, non-governmental organizations, corporate entities, and compassionate individuals to assist in completing a long-abandoned mortuary project at the facility.

According to Dr. Joseph, construction of the mortuary commenced two years ago but was halted midway due to financial difficulties. Although the building structure is in place, the facility remains non-operational because of the cold room installation, an essential component, has not been completed.

In an interview with Adom News correspondent Odehyeba Owusu Job, Dr. Joseph expressed deep concern about the impact this has on the local community.

“The incomplete mortuary has been a challenge for our community for far too long. As a medical doctor, I’ve seen firsthand the difficulties it poses for our deceased loved ones and their families,” he said.

He did explained that, the lack of a functioning mortuary forces families to transport their deceased relatives to faraway towns, increasing emotional and financial burdens during an already distressing time.

Dr. Joseph also emphasized that completing the mortuary would not only restore dignity to the handling of the dead but also provide critical relief to grieving families in Kpandai and nearby communities.

He continue to urged stakeholders, particularly philanthropists and charitable organizations to partner with the hospital to finish the project and help improve healthcare infrastructure in the district.
