Virginia Giuffre, one of the most well-known accusers of Jeffrey Epstein, has announced that she is in the hospital following a serious accident.
In an Instagram post, Giuffre shared that she suffered kidney failure after colliding with a school bus. She revealed that doctors had given her "four days to live" and were transferring her to a specialist facility for further treatment.
Her spokesperson, Dini von Mueffing, issued a statement to the BBC, saying, "Virginia has been in a serious accident and is receiving medical care in the hospital. She deeply appreciates the support and well wishes people have sent."
Giuffre described this year as "the worst" and shared a photo from her hospital bed, which showed visible bruising. "I'm ready to go, just not until I see my babies one last time," wrote the 41-year-old on Instagram, referring to her three children. The details of the crash, including its location and time, have not been revealed.
Giuffre is widely known for her accusations that Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell trafficked her to Prince Andrew when she was 17. The Duke of York has denied all allegations but reached an out-of-court settlement with Giuffre in 2022.
The settlement included a statement in which he expressed regret for his connection with Epstein, though it contained no admission of guilt or apology.
Recently, Giuffre has separated from her husband, Robert, after 22 years of marriage, and has been living in North Perth, Australia.
