In a bold move to drive job creation and unlock creative potential, Dr. Kingsley Agyemang, Member of Parliament for Abuakwa South, has hosted a high-level delegation including renowned American philanthropist Dr. Marie Lemelle and Hollywood actor Dr. Hassan Rasheed best known for his role in Black Panther for strategic discussions on arts-led development in the constituency.

At the heart of the discussions is a transformative proposal to establish one of Africa’s largest film studios in Abuakwa South. The project aims to generate employment for young people, cultivate local talent, and position Ghana as a major player in the global creative economy.

The delegation’s visit a lot of places including a courtesy call to the Ofori Panin Palace, offering a cultural immersion in the rich traditions of the Akyem Abuakwa state. Symbolic and strategic, the visit underscores a broader mission: reconnecting the African diaspora with their roots while forging sustainable creative industry partnerships that deliver lasting economic impact.

A celebrated publicist and committed philanthropist Dr. Lemelle confirmed that, an advanced plans are underway to develop a world-class film academy in Abuakwa South. Envisioned as a creative hub, the academy will provide industry-standard training in fields such as costume design, sound production, and video engineering, aligning local talent development with global market needs.

“Our goal is to place Ghana and Africa at the center of the international creative stage,” Dr. Lemelle said, “while directly tackling youth unemployment and stimulating sustainable economic growth.”

Describing the visit as a deeply emotional homecoming, Dr. Rasheed also urged members of the diaspora to support development efforts in Africa. He emphasized Abuakwa South’s vast untapped potential and pledged ongoing advocacy to attract global attention and investment to Ghana’s creative sector.

Dr. Agyemang welcomed the partnership, and naming it has a turning point for the constituency. “This initiative is not just about the arts, it’s about economic transformation,” he noted. Highlighting Abuakwa South’s strategic location between Accra and Kumasi, he assured full governmental support for land acquisition and fast-tracked project implementation.

The MP acknowledged his dedication to youth empowerment and sustainable economic advancement, positioning Abuakwa South as a future hub of cultural innovation and opportunity.
