Fred K. Smith is a journalist with more than two decades of broadcast journalism experience to his credit, working across Radio, TV, Print and Online.
He is currently an editor at Joy FM/JoyNews, subsidiaries of the Multimedia Group Limited which also operates a number of media outlets, including, Adom FM/TV, Asempa FM, myjoyonline.com, Luv FM, Hitz FM and others.
In May 2019, he spent his annual leave in China, studying the Chinese way of life. Upon his return, he kept an eye on the Chinese media out of curiosity.
Fred felt the need to report this in the Ghanaian media, considering the speed at which the disease was spreading. He did and many questioned the relevance of those stories to the Ghanaian audience.
In March 2020, the virus finally surfaced in Ghana and Fred remained a leader in sharing Covid-19 information and reporting from the frontline.
He reported from hospitals, markets, the Kotoka International Airport as well as testing facilities.
He was infected three times in the line of duty and also infected some of his family members including his wife.
This has not discouraged him. He continues to report from the frontline and exposing all ills and misinformation that militate against the Covid-19 fight.
