Tunisian diplomat, and a pan-African and feminist activist, Aya
Chebbi has been recognized as one of Africa's Most Impactful Change Makers. She
became a prominent blogger during the 2010 Tunisian Revolution and has since
been celebrated as a leading figure in Pan-African Feminism.
In 2013, she co-founded the Voice of Women initiative
(VOW-I) with fellow feminists Konda Delphine and Rose Wachuka, aiming to
empower women through digital advocacy and storytelling. VOW-I has trained
correspondents worldwide, sharing the narratives of ordinary women achieving
extraordinary feats and implementing impactful field projects on health, peace,
and women's safety.
Her influence extends beyond blogging and activism. In March
2015, she was invited as the Youth Speaker for UN Women's event commemorating
the 20th anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on Women in Beijing.
Aya Chebbi made history in November 2018 by becoming the
youngest senior official ever appointed within the African Union, serving as
the African Union Envoy on Youth. Her dedication and impact have been
recognized through numerous awards, including the prestigious Bill &
Melinda Gates Foundation Campaigner Award, inclusion in the MIPAD 100 list of
the Most Influential People of African Descent, and acknowledgment as one of
the Ten Young African Changemakers by YouthhubAfrica.
Her contributions have also been honored by organizations
such as UNLEASH, UNAOC, and the Mo Ibrahim Foundation, among others,
solidifying her position as a formidable force for positive change on the
African continent and beyond.
