4th May 2023 Investigations

General Fannie Masemola, the National Police Commissioner of South Africa, has publicly apologized to the eight ladies who were victims of the attack in Krugersdorp in July 2022.

Following the public disclosure of the personal details of the eight women, including their names and surnames, ages, and addresses, the authorities issued an apology.

The victims' private information was made public on the police WhatsApp groups, which spread on social media.

The South Africa Police Service expresses remorse for the leaking of such sensitive information and extends its sincere sympathies to the victims for the inconvenience this information breach has brought about.

General Masemola requested an internal departmental probe into the event after it happened.

The investigation's final report concluded that although the distribution of victims' personal information was improper, no malice was demonstrated.
