The airstrike on a school in southeastern Myanmar, resulting in the deaths of at least four children, and two teachers, and the injury of fifteen more, is a tragic manifestation of the escalating violence and human rights violations plaguing the region. The children who died were aged between 12 and 14.

Witnesses' accounts underscore the devastating impact on civilians, particularly the most vulnerable, amidst a backdrop of increasing allegations of atrocities by both the military junta and armed opposition forces. This incident is a stark reminder of the urgent need for international intervention to address the crisis and protect civilian lives.

The mounting casualties, coupled with the gains made by armed groups in recent months, highlight the volatile and precarious situation faced by the people of Myanmar.

Immediate and concerted efforts are imperative to halt the cycle of violence, hold perpetrators accountable, and pave the way for a peaceful resolution to the conflict, ensuring the safety and well-being of all civilians, especially children.
