Pretty Yende, a South African singer, will take the stage on May 6 for Charles III's coronation in front of millions of television viewers.

Pretty Yende has given performances in some of the most prestigious opera venues in the world, including the Metropolitan Opera and the Paris Opera via Milan's La Scala.

The 38-year-old opera soprano has been in high demand for the past ten years and will be performing a composition by British composer Sarah Class.

The vocalist was chosen to sing during Charles III's coronation after he heard her perform at Windsor Castle a year prior, when he was still the Prince of Wales. She was born in a township in Piet Retief, a city in eastern South Africa still governed by apartheid.

The opera singer, who is quite active on social media, has been encouraging and inspiring her numerous admirers for years by using the hashtags #PrettyArmy and #PrettyJourney, which both mean the path of Pretty and lovely trip.

The artist claims to be the first African musician to perform solo at an English monarch and queen's coronation, therefore the invitation is quite symbolic.
