On Wednesday, April 19, 2023, severe rainstorms will be accompanied by thunderstorms and high winds in the southern areas of Ghana, the Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMA) has said.

According to the service, a downpour that was seen in Ghana's neighboring Togo and is predicted to come into Ghana may provide various amounts of rainfall along the country's coast.

"A rainfall located over the coast of Togo is also anticipated to travel farther west this afternoon and strike other regions in southern Ghana.


Parts of a press release said that "Rain of varying intensity with thunder and occasionally strong winds are expected."

According to the announcement, rainstorms could be expected in the Volta Region's cities of Aflao, Denu, Agbozume, Dzodze, Akatsi, Ho, and Keta between 1:30 and 3:30 PM.

The Greater Accra Region's Somanya, Koforidua, Akropong, Madina, Ashaiman, Tema, Prampram, and Accra residents should prepare for heavy rainfall between 2:30 and 5:00 PM.

Communities in the Central, Ashanti, Western, and Western North areas were also warned to prepare for heavy rainfall between 3:00 and 6:00 PM.
