Alma Ekaete
Okpalefe, the
executive director of the World Space Week Association has been a seasoned
executive with nearly two decades of experience in legal advisory, corporate
strategy, and international cooperation, primarily focused on emerging markets.
Alma’s
educational journey has been a blend of law and business, starting with a Law
LLB Honours from the University of Manchester. She furthered with a Bar
Vocational Course at BPP Law School and was called to the Bar in England & Wales
at Lincoln's Inn.
Alma
dedicated most of her career to Nigerian Communications Satellite (NIGCOMSAT) Ltd,
serving as the Company Secretary and Legal Adviser, where she headed the Legal
Services and Corporate Strategy Departments, ensuring legal compliance, risk
management, and strategic direction.
At the World
Space Week Association, Alma is responsible for providing visionary leadership
to steer the organization's strategic direction, secure funding and resources
to support our mission, promote space-related education and stem programs, and
advocate for the importance of space exploration and science education, among
other responsibilities.
