Taekwondo Family in Texas Rescues Woman from Sexual Assault
A family of taekwondo instructors in Cypress, Texas,
heroically saved a woman from an attempted sexual assault, successfully
subduing the suspect until police arrived, reports say.
Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez shared on social media
that instructors from Yong-In Tae Kwon Do responded to cries for help from a
neighboring store. They witnessed a man attempting to sexually assault a woman.
"I saw a man on top of a woman and the woman was on the
ground," Hannah An, an instructor at the studio, told the media.
In response, her brothers, Christian and Simon An, and their
father, Grandmaster Han An, quickly intervened. The family managed to pull the
woman away from her assailant, who then attempted to attack them.
"By utilizing their training and discipline, they
managed to stop the assault and hold him," Gonzalez said.
Deputies arrested the suspect, identified as 19-year-old
Alex Robinson, who was found pinned on the ground. Robinson was later charged
with attempted sexual assault, unlawful detention, and assault, with his bond set
at $100,000.
Hannah An's mother, Hong An, took the woman to their dojo to
ensure her well-being. The family has been praised for their heroic actions,
though Hannah An believes anyone in their position would have done the same.
"I thank everybody who's calling us that, but still, I
think anybody can do it," she told the media.
