Beginning with World Immunization Week 2023, Pfizer has planned a year-long worldwide push to immunize millions of kids and get vaccination rates back to what they were before the epidemic. The project, which is being undertaken in collaboration with other organizations, intends to reinforce and restore immunization programs that have been interrupted because to the COVID-19 epidemic.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), over 25 million kids missed at least one vaccine in 2021 alone, and vaccination rates have dropped in more than 100 nations, which has resulted in an increase in the number of measles, diphtheria, polio, and yellow fever outbreaks. The Sub-Saharan African region's medical director for Pfizer stressed the importance of vaccinations in preventing and controlling over 30 infectious illnesses, lowering the need for needless hospitalizations, and managing infectious disease outbreaks.
