Meshack Kinyua stands as a prominent figure among Africa's
most influential change makers, recognized for his endeavors in leveraging
space technology to tackle socio-economic challenges aligned with the
Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
As a Space Technologist and Engineer, Meshack serves as the Founding President of Omarichet Space and the Founding Chief Technology Officer of Irradianz. His expertise spans across various domains including Space Propulsion, Power Systems, and Mission Design, with a keen focus on Space Robotics, Mission Operations, and Integration.
Notably, Meshack spearheaded the establishment and execution of GMES and Africa, a groundbreaking $30 million Earth Observation initiative bridging Africa and Europe through Copernicus Data.This initiative has evolved into a network spanning over 120 institutions across 45 African countries, each consortium comprising private sector entities and academia.
Meshack's vision extends to academia, where he established
the GMES & Africa Network of Universities, aiming to foster capacity
development and research through collaborative projects in Space Applications.
He also pioneered the Virtual Networking Platform, facilitating collaboration
among 80 universities and consortia.
In his role as a Space Applications Training Officer,
Meshack developed comprehensive training strategies and materials,
collaborating with prestigious entities such as the African Union Commission
(AUC), European Space Agency (ESA), and European Organization for the
Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites (EUMETSAT). His initiatives include
integrating ICT with Earth Observation and delivering specialized communication
and training programs to consortia leads and coordinators.
In 2020 alone, Meshack achieved milestones such as introducing Cloud Computing for data mining and facilitating courses on Data Exploitation and Result-Oriented Communication, empowering dozens of individuals from consortia and academia.
His multifaceted contributions
underscore his dedication to advancing space technology for the betterment of
Africa's socio-economic landscape.
