Dr. Kwame Abrokwaa-Yankyera is specialized cosmetic, aesthetic and reconstructive plastic surgeon and a certified fellow of the west African college of surgeons. Also certified as a medical and dental council of Ghana plastic and cosmetic surgeon.

 

He hails from a town in the Ashanti Region called Nkwantakese. He had his basic education there and at Mim in the Brong Ahafo Region.

After secondary education at Dwamena Akenteng in OfinsoTemaSecondary School and Presbyterian Boys Secondary at Legon in Accra, he was admitted to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Medical School.

He had his residency at the Korlebu Teaching Hospital and attachments in Chang Gung Memorial hospital in Taiwan; St Andrew Plastic surgery center at Broomfield, Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital, London, England; and The Royal Infirmary Glasgow, Scotland

 

He started work in 37 Military Hospital since July 1992 and founded the plastic surgery and burns unitWhilst forming the Plastic Surgery Unit at the 37 Military Hospital, he had to commit personal resources as well as resources from friends before it could take off. He’s currently retired.

He formed the GRAFT Foundation in 2009 but operations started in 2013. GRAFT Foundation which is an acronym for Ghana Reconstruction of Anomaly and Trauma Fund, is a Ghanaian based non-governmental, non-profit making organization which seeks to bring hope to the medically hopeless and poor in West Africa by providing free reconstructive plastic surgery to bring smiles on their faces and reinstate them into society.  GRAFT foundation is a charity registered with the Registrar General and the Social Welfare departments of Ghana. 

Over 1500 lives have been changed through the Hope Projects and ECOWAS Compassion Outreaches organized by GRAFT Foundation.  The Hope Projects organized by the foundation has been held in all regional capitals in Ghana. The Ecowas Compassion Outreach by the GRAFT foundation has changed the lives of poor people with deformities in Cote D’Ivoire and hoping to extend it services to other West African Countries.

 

Some of the activities of the foundation include: Cleft lip and palate repairsBurns and trauma victim support, cancerous breast reconstruction, Surgical reconstructions, Health prevention and advocacy and Medical education & research.

 

Dr. Abrokwaa-Yankyera was awarded the ULTIMATE WINNER of the 2013 MTN HERO OF CHANGE challenge for the great works of the GRAFT Foundation. He was also awarded the “AGYA PA” award on TV Africa amongst many other awards and recognitions.

In 2018, GRAFT Foundation was honored as the HELEH AFRICA – AFRICA HEALTH ADVOCATE INSTITUTION OF THE YEAR at the HEALTH LEGENDARY HONOURS AFRICA 2018 held in Accra, Ghana.

 

He consults currently at the Crown Medical Center, Accra for his private cosmetic surgery procedures. He is married to Rebecca and has three beautiful daughters, NhyiraOtie and Soreno.

 

Dr Abrokwaa has a heart of Gold and is passionate about about changing lives and helping needy people.
