Damilola Ogunbiyi Recognized Among Africa's Top 100 Change
Makers for her Impactful Leadership. Damilola Ogunbiyi stands as a global
leader and advocate dedicated to realizing the Sustainable Development Goals
(SDGs), particularly emphasizing SDG7's objective of ensuring access to
reliable, affordable, sustainable, and modern energy for all by 2030.
As the Chief Executive Officer of Sustainable Energy for
All, the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Sustainable
Energy for All (SEforALL), and Co-Chair of UN-Energy, Mrs. Ogunbiyi has played
a pivotal role in driving positive change.
Under Mrs. Ogunbiyi's guidance, SEforALL has established
fruitful collaborations with over 200 partners, aided more than 90 countries
worldwide, and mobilized commitments exceeding $600 billion in energy finance.
Before her tenure at SEforALL, Mrs. Ogunbiyi made remarkable
contributions as the first female Managing Director of the Nigerian Rural
Electrification Agency. Her initiatives, like the Nigerian Electrification
Project and the Energizing Economies Initiative, have facilitated energy access
for millions in Nigeria, impacting both individuals and small businesses.
Beyond her operational roles, Mrs. Ogunbiyi is actively engaged in numerous advisory boards and councils related to global energy and development. Being named among Africa's Most 100 Change Makers 2023 is well deserved.
