Barcelona midfielder Marc Casado sustained a partial knee ligament tear during last weekend's 4-2 win over Atletico Madrid and is expected to be sidelined for around two months, the La Liga leaders confirmed on Tuesday.
The 21-year-old has made 37 appearances across all competitions for Hansi Flick’s side this season.
Casado has withdrawn from Spain's Nations League squad due to the injury, which forced him to leave the pitch in the 67th minute of Barcelona's dramatic victory.
"The injury has been confirmed as a partial tear of the lateral collateral ligament in his right knee," Barcelona said in a statement. "He will undergo conservative treatment, with a recovery time of approximately two months."
Barcelona are currently at the top of La Liga, level with Real Madrid on goal difference, with Atletico four points behind and a game in hand. The club remains on track for a potential treble.
In the Copa del Rey, Barca’s semi-final tie against Atletico is tied at 4-4 ahead of the second leg, while they are set to face Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League quarter-finals next month.
